Nate Lindholm - MN Freeze Director & 10th Grade/2027 Coach

The Founder/Director of Minnesota Freeze and 2027 Coach is Nate Lindholm. Nate has a love for coaching and a passion to help young people grow and develop life skills through the game of basketball. His coaching experience includes being the head coach of over 20 youth basketball teams. Nate has worked as a trainer for Minnesota Developmental Basketball where he provided private lessons and worked camps all around the Twin Cities Metro.

In addition to MN Freeze, he is the Girl's Varsity Coach at Legacy Christian in Andover. In the 2023-24 season, Nate guided Legacy to a 22-5 record along with going 14-0 to win their first conference title in 20 years. He also had the privilege of coaching Anna Stromberg, who became the first Legacy player to earn a Division 1 Scholarship. She will be playing at Radford University beginning in the fall of 2024.

As a college player, Nate played 2 years at UW-Superior until he transferred to Crown College before his junior year. At Crown, he started for 2 years, averaging double digits in scoring and leading the team in rebounds. In his senior year, he was named team captain and helped lead Crown to two national tournament berths.

Being on both ends of the playing time spectrum in college now informs his coaching style. He sees each player as a vital part of the team and strives to help each of his players continuously improve. You will rarely hear Coach Nate talk about the game's leading scorers but will instead hear him praise the hustle and teamwork plays that made the scoring possible. His teams play hard and with freedom, share the ball, and trust each other on the court.

Mike Engelhaupt - 9th Grade/2029 Coach

Mike Engelhaupt is back coaching our 2028's for a 2nd season! He is a dedicated and passionate coach who cares about each player on both a basketball and personal level. He does an amazing job helping each player develop their own skills in practice, improve their decision making & basketball IQ, while also contributing to their strong team culture. Mike's leadership and growth mindset has consistently pointed the girls towards competing with the top competition Minnesota and the Upper Midwest has to offer.

Tyler Froemming - 8th Grade/2029 Coach

Leading our 2029 MN Freeze squad is Tyler Froemming. He is dedicated to developing athletes both on and off the court. With a focus on skill development, he emphasizes the importance of finding the willingness to compete, encouraging players to push their limits and strive for excellence. With a belief that sports are not just about winning but about life lessons that build character and resilience, he ensures that every player feels valued and integral to the team's success. His dedication to his athletes’ growth, both as players and as individuals, leaves a lasting impact, preparing them not just for sports but for life’s challenges. We are so excited to have Tyler leading this team!

Steve Rowan - 7th Grade/2030 Coach

Steve brings over 20 years of basketball experience in different roles. He started coaching while attending college and has coached many girls' teams from 3rd grade all the way up to high school girls' basketball. Steve's primary goal is to empower every player on his team, regardless of skill level. He stresses ball movement on the offensive end and aggressiveness on the defensive end. As a father of 3 girls, he spends most of his time in the gym and currently serves as the Girls Director for White Bear Lake's traveling basketball association.

Pete brings a wealth of experience coaching youth sports, and a passion for the game of basketball. His teams are well-coached, share the ball, and fly around on defense. Pete excels at building team chemistry, and his players love to play together and cheer on their teammates. We are so excited for him to continue to help our 2031 girls reach their potential!

She holds numerous all-time records at both Andover and Waldorf University (IA). We are excited to have her join our MN Freeze staff and to cheer her on as she leads this group of young 5th graders!

Lex brings a love for the game, a talent for connecting with young people, and an off-the-charts basketball IQ. She is currently attending The Atelier Academy of Beauty in Hopkins. These 4th graders are going to love playing for her, learn and improve a ton on the court, and have an amazing role model to look up to.
