Corey Borchardt will serve in his first season leading a Freeze team in 2026. However, he is no stranger to coaching as Borchardt has coached at various levels over the past two-plus decades from the collegiate level to high school and youth/travel teams as well. Corey most recently was the head varsity boys basketball coach at Avail Academy in the Twin Cities, compiling a 71-32 overall record over four seasons, which included the first two 20-plus win seasons in school history, conference championships, and reaching the sectional semi-final game in two of the four seasons. Borchardt has also filled the head and assistant coach role in numerous travel basketball and baseball teams at Spring Lake Park. He is committed to helping each player develop their individual skillset and grow in their understanding of the game which contributes to team success. Borchardt places a significant emphasis on building a strong team culture and prioritizing team chemistry as his past teams featured an identity which included playing up tempo, balanced scoring, moving the ball, and intentional team defense.
